Origins of Mondaine
In 1944, Hans Hilfikerm a Swiss Engineer, Designer and employee of the Federal Swiss Railways in Switzerland, created a clock which has become known as the "Official Swiss Railways Clock". In 1986, with an official licence from the Federal Swiss Railways, the Mondaine watch company was inspired by the original blueprint of the iconic Swiss Railways Clock and turned it into a watch collection. The Mondaine watches collection was born.
Over the years, Mondaine has evolved its range through its first women's watch, desk clock, EVO watch line, illumination system and smartwatch line, whilst keeping the brand's key aesthetic nature. Its simple but classic design has won the "Design Plus Award" and is widely considered to be one of the "10 Classic Swiss Watch Designs". The Swiss know how to make a great watch, so you can be sure it's a watch that combines style and quality.
Sustainability is the Mission
Since our beginnings in 1986, Mondaine has been known for its innovative spirit in all its designs. The Mondaine Swiss family-owned company remain one of the industry leaders in maintaining sustainable practices. Since September 2019, all of their watches and clocks have been manufactured by solar power in their factory in Biberist, Switzerland. With their state-of-the-art photovoltaic solar plant on the roof of our factory, Mondaine are able to cover around 80% of their own electricity requirements. All Mondaine products are hand-crafted in Switzerland, in a sweatshop-free factory.
